AFGL updates Fox Hills course profile ahead of Great Lakes Open

The American FootGolf League updated its BlueGolf pages on Aug. 4 with a Fox Hills Footgolf course profile tied to the AFGL Tour and a FootGolf Major. The page sits inside the league’s tournament infrastructure, with the same kind of player-facing tools competitors expect from a major stop, including the code of conduct, player roster and dress code.

That matters because the Great Lakes Open at Fox Hills Footgolf is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 7 through Sunday, Aug. 9. In FootGolf, the course profile is not background noise. Hole length, fairway angles, rough and hazards can swing scoring fast, and Fox Hills is being presented as the kind of venue where route choice and touch will matter more than brute force.

Fox Hills says FootGolf is played on the Strategic Fox Course with a regulation soccer ball and 21-inch diameter cups, and the club says the course is AFGL-accredited. The venue also says any age from 3 to 100 is welcome to play, a reminder that the site serves both casual traffic and a tournament calendar that now includes a major-level weekend. Fox Hills’ history page describes the property as a 63-hole daily fee golf and banquet facility whose beginnings date to 1927, while a separate course page says it has three golf courses.

That background gives the Great Lakes Open a real competitive edge. Fox Hills has already been in the AFGL orbit before, including a World Cup Shootout in 2018 and a Great Lakes FootGolf Open AFGL-500 at Fox Hills GC - Golden Fox in Plymouth in 2023. Michigan FootGolf also promoted a Great Lakes Open at Fox Hills in 2025, which tells you this is not a one-off venue. Players who know the sight lines and landing areas at Fox Hills should arrive with a head start over first-timers trying to decode the Strategic Fox layout on the fly.

The bigger context is the AFGL itself, founded on Nov. 19, 2011, with the first FootGolf tournament in the United States played on July 22, 2012 at Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. More than a decade later, the Fox Hills listing shows how formal the sport’s top tier has become, with BlueGolf serving as the league’s public scoreboard, rulebook and event hub as the Great Lakes Open approaches.
