Anthony Thomas-Maroon signs with London Knights after USHL breakout

Anthony Thomas-Maroon left a 19-point season in Muskegon for a cross-border move that changes his NHL route as much as his address. The 18-year-old forward, son of NHL veteran Patrick Maroon, signed with the London Knights after using his USHL year to build a stronger draft case.

That shift from Muskegon, Michigan, to London, Ontario, is the kind of decision junior prospects make when they want a different mix of role, exposure and roster opportunity. Muskegon gave Thomas-Maroon a season in the United States Hockey League and the chance to put points on the board. London gives him the OHL stage and a new development lane in one of the sport’s most watched leagues.

Patrick Maroon coached his son through a key development year before the move, adding a family layer to a path that already had scouts paying attention. The USHL made that clear in its Feb. 5 feature, Anthony Thomas-Maroon Making a Name for Himself, which identified him as a top NHL Draft prospect and noted that he was making a name for himself in the league.

London formalized the next step by signing Thomas-Maroon to a Scholarship & Development Agreement. The OHL described him as a second-generation talent, a label that fits the obvious hockey lineage while also underscoring how quickly his own résumé has started to stand on its own.

The Knights made the move public on their social channels with the line, "We’ve signed Anthony Thomas-Maroon to an OHL Scholarship & Development Agreement." Muskegon later marked his departure with a Thank You, Anthony Thomas-Maroon page, closing the loop on a brief but productive USHL stop that helped him turn 19 points into a bigger opportunity.

For Thomas-Maroon, the move is less about carrying a famous last name than about choosing the path that best fits his next evaluation window. Muskegon showed he could produce in the USHL. London now gives him the chance to translate that breakout into even more visibility as the draft picture sharpens.
