Big Air Burnsville needs enough players to turn its adults-only dodgeball idea into a real league, and the Burnsville park has set Aug. 21, 2026 as the deadline for interest form submissions. The ask is straightforward: enough adults to justify weekly games in Burnsville, with the league open to players of all skill levels.

That setup matters because it targets the broad middle of the adult sports market, not just experienced dodgeball teams. Big Air is promising a format built around weekly play, which gives teams time to develop chemistry and gives casual players a reason to come back instead of treating the league like a one-off event. The park says the goal is a league that is fun, social and competitive, a combination that has made adult rec dodgeball durable in places where the participant base is large enough to support it.

The business case is tied to the venue itself. Big Air Burnsville sits at 14290 Plymouth Ave. in Burnsville, and its public materials already lean on repeat traffic, with unlimited park admission listed at $11.99 a month after the first payment and a free buddy pass each month. The dodgeball push looks like an attempt to add another recurring draw to a facility that opened in spring 2025 at the Burnsville Crossing site.

Burnsville may have the size to make the gamble work. The U.S. Census Bureau listed the city at 64,317 people in the 2020 Census, and Census Reporter estimates 64,463 residents in 2024. Rochester and Minneapolis also maintain city-run adult dodgeball pages, which suggests the sport has a foothold, but not a single central home. If Big Air Burnsville gets enough sign-ups, weekly play at 14290 Plymouth Ave. could become another piece of that scattered but steady adult dodgeball map.
