Bollman’s gem lifts Lancaster past Southern Maryland, 4-1
Jason Bollman delivered the stabilizing start Lancaster had been searching for, working six efficient innings Thursday at Penn Medicine Park as the Stormers beat Southern Maryland 4-1. Bollman allowed only two hits and two walks, struck out seven and improved to 4-5 while recording his fourth quality start, giving Lancaster a second straight win after a 0-2 loss to the Blue Crabs on Wednesday night.
The tone of the game changed quickly behind him. Troy Schreffler broke it open with a two-run homer in the second inning, and Lancaster never had to chase the scoreboard. Corey Rosier added another cushion with a seventh-inning home run, and Gerson Moreno finished the night with a perfect ninth for his first save of the season. Southern Maryland was held scoreless for 17 consecutive innings across the series span, a sharp turn against a club that entered the matchup as the Atlantic League South frontrunner.
The win pushed Lancaster to 37-32, while Southern Maryland fell to 45-24. Lancaster signed the right-hander before the 2026 season, and manager Ross Peeples identified him as a starter for the club. Bollman, 25, came in after a strong 2025 with the West Virginia Black Bears in the MLB Draft League, where he went 6-3 with a 4.55 ERA, tied for the league lead with six wins, led the circuit with 57.1 innings and finished sixth with 54 strikeouts against 18 walks. He was also named Pitcher of the Week twice and earned MVP honors for the second half.

Born May 1, 2000, in Frankfort, Illinois, Bollman brought that track record into a matchup that tested Lancaster against one of the league’s best teams.
