Boston Dodgeball League reveals Tune Up tournament rosters

Boston Dodgeball League revealed roster drops for its Tune Up tournament on Instagram, and the first names already changed the shape of the field. The post, published Aug. 3, drew 15 likes and three comments, and the tournament is set for Aug. 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Boston, with rosters required to be finalized before play.

The posted snippet put Bo Tillmon, listed as captain, alongside Jon Gatlin, Adam DaSilva, Carlos Romer, Kyle Hood, Nick Scali, Stephen Decker, Garrett Lee and Matt. That is where the competitive value sits in dodgeball: not just in who is available, but in how the lineup fits together. A roster with one or two big throwers can still get exposed if the catching depth is thin, and a group built around speed and quick resets can look very different once the names are locked in. Boston’s reveal tells captains exactly what kind of chemistry they will have to lean on when the first rounds start.

The Tune Up lands in a local calendar that has already been busy. USA Dodgeball staged a Premier Tour stop in Boston on July 12, 2025, at The Track at New Balance, with Open No-sting, Women’s No-sting and Mixed No-sting divisions. Boston Dodgeball League has also used TeamLinkt and Dodgeball Hub to promote larger events such as The Throw Down: 5th Edition, which it billed as its biggest event of the year and a premier East Coast dodgeball tournament, with registration open from April 11 to April 26. Another BDL x CCC listing set registration to open April 12 at 9 a.m. EDT, close at the end of May or when 16 teams were reached, and capped rosters at 10 players under WDBF rules with a 3:3 on-court ratio.

That kind of structure is why the Tune Up roster drop matters beyond one August afternoon. Boston Dodgeball League says it runs open gyms on Sundays in Somerville, Massachusetts, with first-time visitors admitted free and other participants paying $15, and it also offers Tuesday and Sunday league play. The league keeps feeding the same player pool into more structured events, and once the Tune Up rosters are fixed, the focus shifts from roster-building to whether those combinations can hold up when the bracket tightens.
