Braves purchase York ace Braden Scott after strikeout surge
Atlanta purchased left-hander Braden Scott’s contract on July 10, taking him from York. York Revolution manager Rick Forney announced the move Thursday afternoon, and Scott left the circuit leading the league with 104 strikeouts and 81.0 innings pitched.
Scott’s final burst in York came in his July 3 start, when he punched out 12 batters over eight innings on a 100-degree night while throwing 119 pitches. The outing tied the Revolution’s single-game left-handed strikeout record for the second time this season and pushed him to 100 strikeouts in just his 13th start. Atlantic League records show only Long Island’s Bennett Parry reached that mark faster, getting there in 12 starts in 2018.

That run made Scott the clear center of York’s staff. He was a leading candidate for Atlantic League Pitcher of the Year, and his removal immediately changed the club’s pitching plan. York was left without its scheduled Thursday starter and had to reshuffle its staff for the game that day, with five pitchers ultimately taking on the workload.

York signed Scott for the 2026 season on February 25, and the left-hander had already been a two-time Atlantic League champion with the Revolution. Before returning to York, he spent parts of four years in Evansville, beginning his pro career there in 2021 with an 8-4 record and a 2.72 ERA that earned him a contract with the Toronto Blue Jays. He later reached Double-A New Hampshire.
