City of Moline wins Division 1 at NAACP dodgeball tournament

City of Moline won Division 1 at the NAACP Branch 1111 Dodgeball Tournament, turning an August 1 community event into a real bracket result instead of just a social gathering. A photo stream from the tournament showed a busy scene, and one caption even referenced a “Youth vs Dodgeball competition,” a sign the day was built to pull in more than one age group.

The event invite set the action for Saturday, August 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. at The Hilltop Family Oak Ridge, and the setup suggested more than open gym tossing. Division 1 was singled out on the results post, with City of Moline taking the top spot, which tells you the tournament had enough structure to separate teams by level and recognize placement.

Put together, the August 1 NAACP Branch 1111 tournament and the July 9 Corporate Games bracket show a local dodgeball scene with actual depth: set times, named divisions, and enough teams to make placement mean something. City of Moline is now on the short list of the area’s most consistent sides, and the event proved there is still an audience for adult rec sport when it is run with brackets, a clear schedule and a reason to compete.
