CLUBWAKA DEOC kickball tournament flips coed format for women-led teams

CLUBWAKA’s DEOC tournament turned adult kickball inside out: the Hampton Roads listing set the format at 21 and over, with a minimum of 12 players per team, a maximum of four male players on defense and limits on male kickers in the lineup. In the clearest version of the rules, women were not capped at all in the kicking order, but at least six females had to be in it.

That rule sheet changes more than roster math. CLUBWAKA calls DEOC “coed spelled backward,” and that is exactly how it plays on paper: instead of treating gender balance as a standard coed checkbox, the format pushes women to the front of the batting order and into a bigger share of the offensive load. Captains cannot simply stack the field with the same old adult-kickball mix and call it equal. They have to build around the women on the roster because the women are the ones who can occupy the larger lane in the lineup.

The reverse-coed setup also changes the player experience. With men limited on defense and constrained in the order, DEOC forces a different kind of substitution planning and a different kind of pressure inning to inning. That is the point of the twist: the tournament is not trying to look like standard coed kickball with a fresh label. It is built to make the balance of power visible every time the lineup card is filled out.

CLUBWAKA has folded that format into a broader social-sports model. The company says its leagues usually run once per week for about eight weeks, and its tournament guidelines describe league tournaments as single-elimination playoff games. DEOC fits that system as a concentrated event rather than a full season, which helps explain why the event page could sell it as “Kickball - but flipped” and still make the structure the headline.

The tournament also carried a charitable edge in Hampton Roads. A 2025 CLUBWAKA Hampton Roads post said the DEOC Reverse Coed Kickball Tournament helped support women affected by breast cancer, while an Instagram post said every registration helped support women facing breast cancer through @h4tg_org. A separate video post tied the May 2 event in Williamsburg, Virginia, to Here for the Girls, Inc.

CLUBWAKA gave the format a second stage in Los Angeles, where a December 6, 2025 DEOC listing set the event at Westchester Recreation Center from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with entry starting at $65 per player and a 21-and-over minimum. Taken together, the listings show why DEOC stands out: the novelty is not just the name, but the way the rules, the roster strategy and the charity tie-in all work from the same women-led design.
