College of Southern Idaho women’s basketball adds Clark to coaching staff

Taliyah Clark has joined College of Southern Idaho women’s basketball as an assistant coach, giving Brendan Wheeler another piece as he builds his first staff for the 2026-27 season. CSI’s staff directory now lists Clark in the program, and her bio says she brings a strong playing background and a passion for developing student-athletes to Wheeler’s bench.

The addition follows Wheeler’s introduction on July 20 as CSI’s new head coach, replacing Randy Rogers after 24 seasons. Rogers entered that season as the all-time winningest coach in CSI women’s basketball history, so Clark’s arrival is part of a larger staff reset rather than a routine offseason shuffle.

That timing matters for a junior-college program that has already moved its 2026-27 roster page online. Clark gives Wheeler another voice in recruiting, skill development and opponent preparation while the team is still in summer mode and players are defining roles before fall practice begins.

Her background also fits the kind of support CSI needs during a coaching transition. A staff member with a strong playing pedigree can matter quickly in NJCAA basketball, where the margin between a good year and a great one often comes down to how efficiently a roster is evaluated, how fast returners adapt to a new system and how well a program presents itself to incoming players.

CSI has also been emphasizing the classroom side of the program this summer. On July 30, the school highlighted that the women’s basketball team finished with a 3.64 GPA, a number that underscores the standard Wheeler and his staff are inheriting as they shape the next group.

For CSI, Clark’s hire signals a program that is not waiting for the season to arrive before doing the work that usually decides it. The staff now has Wheeler’s vision at the top, Clark in place underneath him and a roster already posted as the Wildcats turn the page toward 2026-27.
