DAC juniors return from nationals with medals and All-American honor

Six DAC junior racquetball players came home from the USA Racquetball Junior National Championships with medals and an All-American honor, turning a short July 26 team post into a hard result for Denver Athletic Club’s development pipeline.

The championships were staged at the Wellmark YMCA, 501 Grand Ave., in Des Moines, Iowa, from June 24-28, 2026. USA Racquetball had already pointed the junior nationals toward Des Moines in late May, and on July 13 the national body formally recognized All-Americans as part of its championship awards structure. That matters because the honor is not just a social-media flourish; it is part of the event’s official postseason recognition.

DAC’s post made the point in the simplest way possible: six juniors traveled to one of the sport’s most important age-group events and returned with hardware. A separate Denver Athletic Club Facebook post said the same group won at USA national championships and brought back medals and an All-American honor, with the emphasis clearly on the program rather than one isolated standout.

That breadth is the real story. Junior racquetball programs are judged by how many players can survive a national draw, not just by whether one prospect pops. Sending six athletes to junior nationals already signals a healthy feeder system. Bringing back medals means those players were not just taking part in Des Moines, they were winning matches deep enough to reach the podium. Adding an All-American honor shows one of them also performed at the level the event formally rewards for top-tier play and consistency.

USA Racquetball’s Junior National Team page reinforces how structured that ladder has become, with handbooks listed for both the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 cycles. The path runs from junior training to national championships to team selection, and DAC’s result fits that model neatly. The club’s success looks less like a one-off trip and more like an assembly line that is getting athletes ready for pressure that shows up only on a national stage.

The All-American label carried weight elsewhere in Des Moines too. Naperville sisters Sasha Rai and Sameera “Sammie” Rai both won gold at the 2026 championships, and Sameera also earned an All-American honor. DAC’s haul sits in that same championship picture, with medals and recognition showing the club can turn junior work into results when the best youth players in the country meet on the same court.
