Daytona Beach girls flag football league wraps up summer season

The local NFL girls flag youth football league wrapped up its summer run in Daytona Beach with an all-star team photo that put the season’s standout players front and center. Daytona Beach Parks and Rec opened registration for the season on March 3 and closed it on April 30, then ran games from May 20 to June 20. That schedule gave the league a clear summer window and helped turn girls flag football into a defined option for families looking for organized play before the school year returned. The season’s end now gives organizers a clean accounting point: who stayed involved, who developed, and which players earned all-star recognition.

The league has been on the local radar for a while. Daytona Times first flagged the program with “Daytona girls youth flag football league set” on Aug. 4, 2023, followed by additional youth league coverage on Aug. 11 and Aug. 18. By Oct. 13, 2023, the paper was calling the league “a hit with athletes and the community,” and by Dec. 29, girls flag football had already become one of the year’s top sports stories. The repeated coverage shows a program that moved quickly from an idea on the schedule to a recurring part of Daytona’s sports landscape.

Florida Youth Athletics describes NFL Flag as the largest flag football program in the nation, and the broader calendar backs up that expansion: the 2026 NFL FLAG Championships were scheduled for July 23-26 at Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield, Indiana, while the Minnesota Vikings were celebrating local teams at the championships on July 20, 2026.
