Dodgeball anime sequel Dodge Danko reveals main visual, extra cast
The first full visual for Honō no Tōkyūjo: Dodge Danko arrived with a bigger broadcast footprint and a much larger bench. The TV anime sequel to Dodge Danpei will begin airing July 6, 2026 on TOKYO MX, MBS, BS11 and, newly added in the latest update, Mie TV.
The official site is pushing this as the legitimate sequel to Tetsuhiro Koshita’s original dodgeball manga, and that framing matters. This is not being sold as a nostalgia callback but as a straight continuation of a franchise that made dodgeball feel like a contact sport with cartoon momentum. Studio CUE is handling animation, and the series is centered on Danko, the daughter of Danpei Ichigeki, which gives the property a clean generational hook without losing the hard-charging tone that made the original stand out.

The June 21 update did more than unveil the main visual. It expanded the cast list to 18 additional names, after the June 1 trailer announcement had already introduced six more voices and fresh staff details. The new additions include Moa Kusunoki, Akari Higashiyama, Saya Sakakibara, Rin Kobayakawa, Urara Mitamura, Miho Haruka, Marina, Momoka, Riko, Nanami Katsuragi, Natsumi Shisoma, Elda, Satsuki Takayama, Kira Ogata, Runa Usami, Hinata Fuwa, Iroha Yuuki and Arata Hattori.
That scale says a lot about how the series is being staged. This is not a lean reboot built around one star and a few supporting faces. It is being lined up like an ensemble sports property, with the kind of crowded roster that gives anime dodgeball its best advantage: every character can become a matchup, a rivalry, or a signature throw. The official materials also lean into the production’s energy and camaraderie, while stressing that the staff wanted to capture the heroism and enthusiasm of the characters.

The franchise has the history to back it up. Dodge Danpei ran in CoroCoro Comic from 1989 to 1995, spawned a 47-episode TV anime that began in October 1991, and also inspired video games. The sequel manga launched on the Weekly CoroCoro Comic website on November 28, 2022, then earned a 2023 Next Manga Award nomination in the web manga category. With the new visual and cast reveal, Dodgeball is getting another broadcast push that keeps the sport in the cultural conversation long after the final whistle on the court.
