Dodgeball Ontario spotlights 2026 provincial championship with 28 teams

Dodgeball Ontario’s July 16 reel put 28 teams and nearly 300 athletes at Sportsworld (Practice Arena), turning its 2026 provincial championship into a full-scale Ontario showcase. The two-day competition drew competitors from across the province and gave the event the kind of size that only comes when a sport has built a deep club base.

That scale matched the way the championship had been framed across Dodgeball Ontario’s spring promotion. The organization’s April 4-5 provincial materials said Canada Games Park in Thorold would host the championships, and one post said the event would take over the venue with live coverage from all five courts. A livestream title also identified Canada Games Park in Thorold, Ontario, as the home for Court 1 coverage, underscoring how fully the championship had been staged around a dedicated facility.

The field was split into men’s and women’s divisions, giving Ontario’s top clubs a clear competitive structure inside a bracket that came close to 300 athletes. Oakville News said in January that the two-day tournament would include about 300 athletes from across Ontario, and that description lined up with the July reel’s emphasis on the event’s breadth. Twenty-eight teams is not just a crowded weekend entry list; it is enough to fill a provincial schedule and show that multiple clubs and regions are producing steady depth.

Niagara had already been placed on the championship map before the spring event. Canada Games Park in Thorold was identified as the host site for the 2026 provincials, and Sport Niagara listed Niagara Ontario Provincial Championships for April 4, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. Sport Niagara later noted that it had secured the return of major dodgeball championships for 2027, a sign that the province’s hosting footprint was expanding beyond a single one-off event.

Dodgeball Ontario’s reach stretched beyond the provincial bracket as well. The organization announced Team Ontario for Dodgeball Canada’s inaugural Nationals on Oct. 4-5, 2025, at RIM Park in Waterloo, Ontario, showing that the provincial body was not only staging championships but also building a pathway into national play. With 28 teams, nearly 300 athletes and multiple host sites in play, Ontario dodgeball looked more like a mature competition circuit than a one-weekend novelty.
