Dodgeball season ends with two-day finale at K-Days

Dodgeball Alberta's K-Days run put the 2026 season on display at Klondike Park, with matches set for July 18-19 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day. The post framed that two-day stretch as the closing chapter of the year, turning a festival booking into a season-ending marker for the local dodgeball calendar.

K-Days itself ran July 17-26 at the Edmonton EXPO Centre, 116 Avenue and Wayne Gretzky Drive, and Klondike Park was designed as a break from the midway. The park page invites visitors to "step away from the midway and step back in time to immerse yourself in the history of Edmonton's gold rush," which gave dodgeball a backdrop far removed from the usual gym or recreation-centre setting. That kind of placement matters for a grassroots sport because it puts players in front of festival crowds that may not follow league play the rest of the year.

The programming also pointed to a broader summer push. Other Dodgeball Alberta posts tied the same series to July 25-26, and one Facebook post described the opening event as "Dodgeball 101 // Summer Series @ K-Days," saying it would be free and paired with Kids Up Front. Free entry, a recognizable festival, and a family-heavy venue created the kind of low-barrier showcase that can draw first-time participants as well as regular league players.

For the 2026 season, that meant K-Days worked less like a stand-alone exhibition and more like a public-facing finish line. It was a chance to close out summer competition in front of a larger crowd, then hand the calendar off to the next stage. Dodgeball Edmonton's website already points that direction, listing a Summer Scorcher Tournament for Saturday, August 22, 2026 and carrying the message, "Season Complete! Stay tuned for Fall 2026 league signup!"

That final note makes the K-Days finish feel like a snapshot of where the community stands now: visible, organized, and still expanding beyond its core league base. The season ended in a festival park, but the next turn on the schedule was already in place.
