Doin Sports, Daddy survives thriller as Kick them pitches routs Spot 18-0
Doin Sports, Daddy had to work for every out in the 6:15 p.m. game at IU Michael A. Carroll Track & Soccer Stadium, holding off Force of Mortality 11-9 in the kind of finish that kept the last inning alive. An hour later, Kick them pitches turned the same field into a different sport entirely, flattening Spot 18-0 at 7:10 p.m. in a league-night split that showed both ends of recreational kickball in one downtown block.
The first game had the look of a real fight. Doin Sports, Daddy finished at 4-1-0, while Force of Mortality dropped to 1-3-0, and the two-run margin meant no one could relax once the scoring started. In a league where games are only seven innings or one hour, whichever comes first, that kind of score puts every half-inning under pressure. Doin Sports, Daddy stayed near the top of the table, but not comfortably enough to coast, and Force of Mortality left with the kind of record that keeps summer schedules tense fast.
Kick them pitches offered the opposite script. The 18-0 shutout over Spot came without any wiggle room for the other side, and it pushed Kick them pitches to 3-0 while Spot sat at 1-1 afterward. That kind of clean runaway does more than pad a margin; it sets a tone in a division where one team can separate early and force everyone else to chase. In a league as compact as this one, a score like 18-0 does not just win a night, it changes the conversation around who can actually keep pace.

CCA Sports’ Summer 2026 Tuesday Downtown Recreational Kickball League - IUI began on Tuesday, June 2, and runs through July 21 with games set for 6:15 p.m., 7:10 p.m., 8:05 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. The league is co-ed, open to players 19 and older, fields 11 players at a time, and recommends rosters of 12 to 15. It pairs a regular season with a single-elimination postseason tournament, and the package includes official team shirts, league management, referee support and optional beer coupons for sponsor bars after games.
The standings after the June 23 results underscored the split night. Alcobolics led at 4-0, Doin Sports, Daddy sat second at 4-1, Kick them pitches was third at 3-0, Spot was seventh at 1-1 and Force of Mortality was ninth at 1-3. In one venue, on one league night, Indianapolis got a two-run nail-biter and an 18-run shutout, and both felt exactly like kickball.
