EDF to maintain 15 dodgeball rankings, shaping tournament seedings

The European Dodgeball Federation will keep 15 rankings in place from 2025 onward, and it says those individual rankings are the base for every seeding in EDF tournaments. The split is straightforward on paper, 10 adult rankings and five junior rankings, but in practice it decides bracket position, early-round opponents and how hard a team has to work before it even sees a medal match.

That is the part casual fans miss. A ranking is not just a table of names and points. In EDF events, it is the mechanism that turns results into the draw, which means a higher place can keep a contender away from the other top teams until later in the tournament. A lower place can drop a nation into a rougher pool, force a tougher opening match and leave less margin for error over a long weekend.

The junior side shows the system working in real time. The EDF’s 2025 junior setup already breaks into U18-M, U18-W, U15-M and U15-W categories, and the overall junior table puts France first with 35.75 points and Italy second. That is not a cosmetic gap. If France stays on top, it owns the top seed; if Italy closes the margin and moves ahead, the top line of the bracket changes with it, and so does the route through the event.

That small movement matters because dodgeball tournaments punish bad placement fast. A team that draws a stronger pool early can spend energy surviving instead of building toward the later rounds, while a higher seed can preserve legs and keep its best matchups for the medal stage. In a sport where one bad run of points can flip a match, seed position is part strategy, part survival.

The federation’s public pages show this is not a one-off list. The ranking pages are maintained as an ongoing competitive structure, and the EDF has been posting event content around it, including final standings across all divisions at the European Dodgeball Championships 2025. It also promoted International Dodgeball Opens on Aug. 31, 2025, another sign that rankings, seedings and event results are being woven together across the calendar.
