ESPN adds Turf Wars kickball tournament to The Ocho lineup
ESPN Watch listed Turf Wars Adult Kickball Tournament as a live stream on ESPN8 on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, then slotted a re-air on ESPNews at 3:00 a.m. as part of ESPN The Ocho. For a niche adult kickball circuit, that kind of rotation is more than novelty: it gives Turf Wars another national stage, and another chance to sell the sport as a real broadcast product.
Turf Wars has spent years building toward that point. Its materials call it the nation’s No. 1 adult kickball tournament brand, the most trusted name in the sport, and the first and only kickball organization showcased on ESPN in its entirety. The brand also says that since 2019 it has led the industry in total cash payouts, total teams, social media views and engagement, national press releases, and major brand sponsors.
The most recent live stop on the Turf Wars calendar was the Vegas edition, Midnight Madness Open, which ran June 19-21 at Craig Ranch Park in Las Vegas. The tournament was built as an overnight event, with games scheduled from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., a format that fits the circuit’s destination-style pitch and its effort to turn adult kickball into a watchable spectacle rather than a pickup pastime.
The ESPN8 exposure also fits a longer relationship. A Turf Wars event listing for 2025 said the brand was returning to ESPN The Ocho for the fourth consecutive year, pushing that tie back to at least 2022. In February 2024, TurfWars reached a multi-event streaming agreement with ESPN3 that covered tournaments in Prince George’s County, Maryland, and Charlotte, North Carolina, widening the platform beyond a single showcase weekend.
That 2024 Maryland event came with another credibility marker: WUSA9 said it was supported by the Maryland Sports Commission and described it as the first-ever national kickball competition streamed on ESPN. ESPN’s 2025 Ocho press release framed the broader backdrop, with 65 hours of content across ESPN platforms and 30 sports making their Ocho debut. Turf Wars’ place in that package shows how far adult kickball has moved from the local rec field toward a branded tournament circuit with sponsors, travel appeal and a national audience.
