Fairport Dodgeball opens new indoor home at Perinton Square Mall

Fairport Dodgeball opened its indoor home at Perinton Square Mall with a ribbon-cutting Friday, giving the Fairport area its first dedicated space built around dodgeball instead of a shared gym or temporary rental room. The new venue is designed for leagues, open play, parties and events, a setup that could help turn a niche sport into a regular year-round option in suburban Rochester.

The facility’s surface is part of the pitch. It uses artificial turf with padding, a combination meant to make play more comfortable in a fast, contact-heavy sport where floor feel and traction matter as much as throwing accuracy. Fairport Dodgeball describes itself as “Rochester's premier adult dodgeball & event space” and says it is built for “serious play and unforgettable experiences,” signaling a model aimed at repeat league use, not just one-off bookings.

The opening also came with a clear business plan. Fairport Dodgeball’s website listed its grand opening for Friday, August 7, 2026, at 6720 Pittsford Palmyra Rd in Perinton Square Mall. A Perinton Square Facebook post said the first open dodgeball sessions were created for Friday and Saturday and directed signups to FairportDodgeball.com, with the first listed session set for Fri, Aug 7 at 6:00 PM.

The early programming shows how the venue is trying to build a base quickly. One Perinton Square listing described open dodgeball games for up to 12 players per session, lasting one hour, with one snippet showing a price of $20 per player and another listing showing $10 per player. Those details matter because they point to a facility chasing both competitive adults and casual players who want short, scheduled runs rather than a full-league commitment.

Local officials framed the opening as a family-run addition to the mall. Town of Perinton posts identified owner Andy DeSouza and said the site will offer leagues, open play, parties and more. Perinton Town Supervisor Jenn Townsend also congratulated Andy and Katie DeSouza and their son Lucca on the grand opening at Perinton Square Mall. The town’s posts and the mall’s own promotion show the venue being introduced not just as a sports room, but as a new gathering point that depends on steady use from players, birthday groups and event bookings to keep the lights on long term.
