Farmington hosts father-son dodgeball tournament, pizza party with superhero theme
Superhero capes and dodgeballs shared the floor at Sycamore Park Community Center as Farmington staged its Father-Son Dodgeball Tournament & Pizza Party from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 20, 2026. The two-hour format kept the action tight, and the event’s design made the morning feel like both a tournament and a family outing.
Farmington Parks, Recreation, & Cultural Affairs billed the gathering as a superhero-themed friendly competition, inviting fathers and sons to suit up, form teams and test themselves in a short, high-energy bracket at 1051 Sycamore St. Registration was set at $8 per person, and a local calendar item said the event was open to boys ages 5 and up. After the tournament, participants stayed for pizza and root beer floats, a postgame finish that pushed the event beyond pure competition and into social time.
That combination has become part of the appeal for community dodgeball in Farmington. The city’s recreation calendar has used the same father-son concept before, including a June 13, 2023 edition, and the 2026 version followed the same family-sports-and-snacks formula with a new pop-culture wrapper. A city development listing had framed the same program as Star Wars themed in 2025, showing how the event’s branding shifts while its core stays intact.

The superhero emphasis also fit the broader way Sycamore Park runs dodgeball. The community center offers free weekly youth dodgeball on Wednesdays and a free weekly Dodgeball for All Abilities drop-in on Thursdays, giving the sport a steady place in the city’s recreation lineup rather than limiting it to one annual tournament. The center says it exists to provide a safe and pleasant environment for community members to participate in recreational activities and to facilitate quality educational and recreational classes, activities and special events.
Farmington’s calendar also shows the father-son tournament sits alongside a separate annual Mother Son Dodgeball & Ice Cream Sundae Bar event, with registration opening at midnight on January 1, 2026 and the 2026 edition previously held on March 7. Together, those recurring events make dodgeball one of the city’s most visible family sports, built around short rounds, low-cost entry and a finish line that comes with dessert.
