FIFG hypes English Open 500 as rankings race intensifies

The English Open 500 is already on FIFG’s radar, and the federation is selling it as a ranking-heavy stop with play set for Aug. 21-23 at Ashbury Course + Pines 9 near Okehampton, England. FIFG’s post said, “One month to go! The ENG 500 - English Open is approaching fast,” while the tournament information page lists the event as “ENG 500 - English Open.”

The tier is the point. FIFG 500 events sit high enough in the federation’s world tour structure to matter for points, and FIFG’s 2026 competition rules place the circuit on world, regional and national ranking levels. That makes the English Open more than a social-media countdown: it is the kind of event that can shift seedings, affect travel plans and shape how players position themselves for the rest of the season. FIFG, which describes itself as the world’s governing body for FootGolf, is treating the English Open as one of the circuit’s important markers.

The FootGolf Association of England has framed the same tournament as a return to the Ashbury Golf Resort, calling it the “iconic Ashbury Golf Resort” on its English Open page. A separate FGAoE post about the 2026 English Open said the Ashbury Golf Resort event had 159 players from 19 different countries, a turnout that shows why this stop gets attention well beyond England. If that kind of international field returns, the event will again be a useful gauge of who is traveling well and who is sitting on enough ranking momentum to push later in the year.

The English Open also fits into a busier national calendar. The FootGolf Association of England says its National Tour 2026 runs from April to October, and it requires the relevant FGAoE membership for club, regional and national tour events. That leaves the English Open sitting inside a broader structure, not as a one-off exhibition but as a tournament with clear consequences for players trying to stay active across the season.

The tournament page currently lists leaderboards as unavailable, but the setup is clear enough: Ashbury Course + Pines 9, a FIFG 500 designation and a late-summer date that should pull serious contenders into Devon.
