Gadsden State adds veteran coach Jason Presley to women’s staff

Gadsden State added Jason Presley to its women’s basketball staff as assistant coach, a move that gives head coach Eddy Norris another veteran voice as the Lady Cardinals shape their next roster. Presley is listed on the school’s official Women’s Basketball Coaches page, and Gadsden State also posted his contact information, jpresley@gadsdenstate.edu, on the athletics site.

The timing matters because assistant coaches at the NJCAA level do far more than fill out a bench. They are central to recruiting, player development, scouting, and the daily structure of a junior-college program, where rosters turn quickly and players are often chasing transfer opportunities. Presley brings nearly three decades of coaching experience into that mix, a résumé that should help Gadsden State in practice planning, game preparation and the steady work of identifying fits before they ever step on campus.

Presley joins a staff that is still taking shape under Norris. Gadsden State named Norris head coach on Feb. 6, 2025, and the college said then that he brought 34 years of coaching experience at the collegiate and high school levels. With Norris installed and Presley now alongside him, the Lady Cardinals have leaned into experience at the top of the program rather than trying to build with first-time voices.

That approach fits a program that has already shown it can produce high-end results. Gadsden State said sophomore Katelyn St. Clair was named an NJCAA All-American on April 29, 2026, making her the program’s first All-American since the 2017-18 season. St. Clair transferred from Berry College, led the conference in scoring at 14.8 points per game, and earned First Team All-Conference recognition, a stat line that underscores how much value Gadsden State can extract from the transfer market when the development side is working.

Presley’s addition looks like a staff move designed to support that formula. A veteran assistant can help tighten practice habits, sharpen scouting reports and keep recruiting moving in a level of basketball where one strong evaluation can change a season. For Gadsden State, the hire is not just a depth chart note on the coaching staff. It is a signal that the program is building around continuity, experience and the kind of support structure that can turn a good NJCAA team into a real threat.
