Guarujá Golf Club hosts official FootGolf competition in Brazil
Guarujá Golf Club staged an official FootGolf competition on Aug. 3, giving Brazil’s first homologated course for the sport another sanctioned showcase. The event was framed as a formal contest, not an exhibition, and that distinction matters in a country where FBFG has described FootGolf as still relatively new and little known.
The Guarujá venue has become a reference point for the sport’s growth in Brazil because the federation says it was the first golf course in the country adapted and homologated for FootGolf. FBFG also says the sport is now played on more than 900 golf courses worldwide, a scale that helps explain why an established golf club has become such a useful host for Brazilian competition.
Guarujá Golf Club has presented itself as part of a network of more than 900 homologated clubs in more than 30 countries, with FBFG handling implantation, training and technical organization for FootGolf events and games. That structure turns the club into more than a venue with space to play: it is part of the pathway the sport is using to build legitimacy, standardize competition and expand sanctioned play beyond informal community matches.
The timing around Guarujá has been busy. An FBFG-related FootGolf World Tour 2026 listing pointed to an event at Guarujá Golf Club from July 30 to Aug. 1, drawing players from several countries for one of the calendar’s bigger stops. The Aug. 3 official competition followed that stretch and underscored how the club is being used for high-profile competition in quick succession.
No winner, final score or standings were provided for the Aug. 3 competition, but the venue itself told the story. A golf club hosting an official FootGolf event in Brazil is a sign that the sport is moving deeper into recognized institutions, and Guarujá has emerged as the clearest example of how that expansion is taking shape on the São Paulo coast.
