Hartford Athletic adds Michael Adedokun on loan from Lexington SC

Hartford Athletic added Michael Adedokun on loan from Lexington SC for the remainder of the 2026 USL Championship season, giving the club another attack-minded option after a season in which the 25-year-old posted one assist in 15 appearances across all competitions.

The move fits a familiar Hartford pattern. The club has used short-term loans as roster tools all year, bringing in Jack Panayotou from the New England Revolution on April 25 and later adding Owen Presthus on loan from the Columbus Crew on Aug. 15. Adedokun is the latest piece in that approach, a flexible addition that lets Hartford sharpen the roster without locking in a long-term commitment.

Lexington’s side of the deal is just as telling. Adedokun first arrived there on March 20, 2025, when Lexington SC took him on loan from CF Montréal for the rest of the 2025 USL Championship season. Lexington later converted that arrangement into a transfer on Aug. 22, 2025, after Adedokun had produced three goals in 20 appearances during his loan spell.

The path to Hartford also carries the kind of pedigree that makes the move more than a routine depth transaction. Lexington’s roster page lists Adedokun as the 13th overall pick in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft, and he entered the league as the 2024 MAC Hermann Trophy winner. For Hartford, that is a chance to tap into a player with both top-end college credentials and recent USL production.

The timing suggests Hartford wanted another piece for the final months of the season, while Lexington was willing to let a recent transfer move again after his 2026 output settled at one assist in 15 appearances. It is the sort of transaction that reshapes both benches at once: Hartford gets immediate cover and a different attacking profile, while Lexington keeps its roster options moving after already turning Adedokun from loanee into a transferable asset last year.
