Herb KC edges BallyLlamas 6-5 in tight kickball battle
Herb KC survived the kind of game that leaves no room for wasted outs, edging BallyLlamas 6-5 at Dilworth Field on Wednesday night. In a league where recent scores have often tilted into blowout territory, this one stayed tense all the way to the finish and forced both sides to play clean under pressure.
The matchup was part of PSL Summer '26 Kickball - Wednesdays at Dilworth, and it landed in the 9:00 p.m. slot on a five-game card at Dilworth Field 1. That late window mattered. By then, the evening had already settled into the rhythm of a full league night, with games stretching from 6:30 p.m. through 9:50 p.m. and every result feeding into the wider Wednesday table.
That is what makes a 6-5 final stand out in this setting. PSL’s summer format is 10-on-10 with no more than six men on the field at one time, and rosters can carry up to 20 players, which gives teams enough depth to keep pressure on late but also enough moving parts for one mistake to swing a result. In a one-run game, the losing side usually pays for the missed kick, the rushed throw, or the one defensive lapse that opens the door. BallyLlamas came up one run short, and Herb KC did just enough to protect the lead.

The timing also fit the shape of the summer schedule. Herb KC had a bye on June 10, then played Jellybean Hoispital on June 17 before taking on BallyLlamas on June 24. That placed the club right in the middle of the early season grind, when teams are still sorting out combinations and every tight finish can change how a roster feels about itself heading into the next Wednesday.
Dilworth Field added its own familiar Pittsburgh backdrop to the night. Set in Mount Washington Park and Emerald View Park, the site comes with trail access, a playground, basketball courts, a baseball field, a water fountain and a port-a-john, the kind of park setup that makes PSL nights feel bigger than a single result. With Fall '26 kickball registration set to open at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, Herb KC left June 24 with a narrow win and a reminder that in this league, the cleanest team usually survives the tightest games.
