HOPS beat depleted Felix the Catch 17-10 in close quadball match

HOPS beat a depleted Felix the Catch 17-10 in a quadball recap posted by Deez Hucks, Hugs & Hops, with the post calling it the club’s “last score recap” before the next phase for the team. The seven-point margin was not a blowout, but it was enough to show HOPS stayed organized through a low-scoring match and kept Felix the Catch from finding a late answer.

The same post said HUCKS “played really well up until the 3/4 mark” of the match, a detail that points to a contest that tightened only after the middle stages. In a game played to 17, that kind of late shift matters. HOPS did enough to close the door once the match moved into its final stretch, while Felix the Catch, already dealing with a depleted lineup, could not generate the run needed to overturn the deficit.

That result fits the way quadball usually turns on fine margins. The International Quadball Association describes the sport as a mixed-gender, full-contact game played by seven players per side, with teams scoring by throwing a volleyball through hoops, defending with tackles and dodgeballs, and ending the game by catching the snitch. The IQA says the sport has grown from its inaugural match in 2005 to thousands of players in more than 40 countries, which makes even a brief social-media recap part of a much larger competitive picture.

The current name is part of that evolution. In July 2022, the IQA joined US Quadball and Major League Quidditch in changing the sport’s name from “quidditch” to “quadball” worldwide, and the IQA says its gender rule lets players compete as the gender they identify as, including non-binary genders. US Quadball’s 2026-36 strategic plan carries the title “A League Built for a Lifetime,” while the 2027 IQA Quadball World Cup is set for Barn Elms Sports Centre in London, England, on July 23-25, 2027. Against that backdrop, HOPS’ 17-10 finish reads as a clean, controlled result in a sport where depth and late execution still decide plenty.
