Quinagh House Golf and its volunteers got the thanks after the FootGolf Association of Ireland’s Carlow Open 2026 stop at Quinagh House Footgolf in Carlow. BlueGolf and the Federation for International FootGolf listed the event as IRE 100 - Carlow Open Quinagh House Footgolf, and the round page showed July 19, 2026 competition that included junior boys pairings.

That thank-you note tells the real story behind a domestic FootGolf stop: access to a playable course, staff willing to host, and volunteers willing to turn a golf venue into a competition site for the day. Carlow Tourism describes Quinagh House Par 3 as a 42-acre course on the outskirts of Carlow Town with 18 holes ranging from 130 to 220 yards, the kind of layout that can accommodate FootGolf only when a host club opens the gates and helps with the logistics.

Carlow had already shown it could support the sport. On July 15, Carlow Nationalist said the first ever Carlow Footgolf Open was set for Sunday, July 19, at Quinagh House Golf Course and described it as the opening event of the new season for more than 35 aficionados. An earlier county preview put the first Carlow Footgolf tournament at Quinagh Golf Club in Carlow Town, with tee-off at 10:00 a.m. and a finish expected between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. International footgolfer Stan Brennan was named among the participants in that earlier event coverage.

The Carlow stop also mattered because it gave the national calendar another counted round, not just another casual outing. The BlueGolf pairing sheet showed junior boys pairings alongside the main competition, which is the kind of detail that separates a one-off novelty from a structured domestic event with room for different age groups and competitive levels.

For Irish FootGolf, that matters as much as any single result. A calendar built on local hosts like Quinagh House keeps players active, gives newer entrants a place to compete, and shows that the sport can stage a proper event outside the handful of biggest stops.
