Paul Pierce
Technically, this mistake happened after Pierce retired from his decorated NBA playing career. He had a cushy gig with ESPN as an analyst and was making millions per year. But then he made a massive mistake on social media that caused the network to fire him. One Instagram Live video changed everything for the former Celtics star (via New York Post).
Pierce brought the network into disrepute when he smoked marijuana on camera and posed with scantily-clad women. Allegedly, the problem was that he foolishly filmed the scenes. If a random bystander caught him having a good time it wouldn’t have been as big of an issue. But the network has standards and they refused to compromise them for him.
