Lamar State adds Austrian forward Selvin Jukic to 2026-27 roster

Lamar State College Port Arthur moved early on its 2026-27 frontcourt by agreeing terms with Austrian forward Selvin Jukic, a 6-foot-8, 20-year-old who has already played across multiple levels in his home country. For a Seahawks program that reached the Region XIV Tournament and then published a season-improvement note on April 26, the addition gives the roster another size piece before next season’s pieces are even set.

Jukic arrives with a résumé that stretches beyond one stop. He most recently played for BK Rapid Wien in Austria’s 2.Bundesliga, where he averaged 5.5 points, 1.5 rebounds, 0.8 assists and 0.5 steals over four games in 2025-26. He also logged seven Superliga appearances for BC Vienna, posting 2.4 points and 0.9 rebounds per game, and he appeared in two Austrian Cup games for Vienna as well.

That blend of minutes matters for Lamar State. Jukic has already been used in both a lower domestic league and Austria’s top division, and he has moved through different roles rather than living in one narrow assignment. Before Rapid and Vienna, he spent time with Basket Flames and helped that club reach the Austrian Cup semifinals in 2026, another marker that he has been around competitive environments where details and physicality decide whether a player stays on the floor.

For an NJCAA roster, that background can be as valuable as raw production. A 6-foot-8 forward who has already had to defend different body types, handle different pace levels and adapt to different systems can shorten the learning curve once he gets to Port Arthur. The Seahawks have leaned on international recruiting before, including Israel native Adam Scherbakov, and Jukic fits that same model of bringing in players with overseas experience who can add length and versatility without needing years of physical development.

His birth date, Aug. 24, 2005, reinforces how much runway remains. Lamar State is not just filling a spot for 2026-27, it is trying to build a frontcourt around a young forward whose ceiling still appears to be ahead of him. If Jukic translates his European experience quickly, the Seahawks will have added a piece that can help them manage rebounding, matchup size and interior depth before the next season even starts.
