Lancaster rallies for two runs in ninth to beat the Revs

Lancaster’s two-run ninth inning turned a tight game and beat the York Revolution, a finish that again put York’s bullpen handling under the microscope. The Stormers waited until the last frame to decide it, and the Revs could not make the final stand hold.

In a June 8, 2025 meeting, York was ahead 2-0 early after a wild pitch from Legends starter Wilton Castillo scored Lewis, then Ryan Higgins added an infield single for his fourth straight RBI hit going back to the previous Saturday. Lancaster also answered in the 2026 season opener at WellSpan Park, when the Stormers beat York 8-4 behind a ninth-inning rally.

For Lancaster, the ninth showed the kind of patience that keeps an offense alive even when the at-bat count gets heavy and the outs start to shrink. The Stormers kept the pressure on until one inning broke open, and that kind of late push matters in the Atlantic League, where compact schedules and thin bullpen margins turn every high-leverage plate appearance into a stress test.

For York, the loss was about execution as much as the scoreboard. The Revs have lived on both sides of close games in this matchup, including the suspended-game win in Lancaster and other recent tight finishes, but they could not close this one out when it mattered most. That is the cost of a ninth inning that slips away: one club leaves with momentum, and the other leaves with another late-game problem to sort out before the next first pitch.
