Las Vegas Lights rally from 2-0 down to stun Monterey Bay FC

Monterey Bay FC led Las Vegas Lights FC 2-0 at halftime before losing 3-2 at Cardinale Stadium in its final Prinx Tires USL Cup group-stage game. Zackery Farnsworth scored in the fourth minute and Belmar Joseph doubled the lead in the 30th, but Las Vegas answered with three second-half goals and walked out with the comeback.

For 45 minutes, Jordan Stewart’s side had the game under control. Monterey Bay held 60 percent of the possession before the break, dictated the tempo and gave Devin Rensing’s visitors very little to work with. Farnsworth’s early finish set the tone, and Joseph’s goal in the 30th minute gave Monterey Bay a 2-0 lead.

The second half changed the entire feel of the night. Abraham Okyere cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 71st minute, and that was the moment the match tilted hard toward Las Vegas. Monterey Bay started playing like a team protecting a result instead of finishing a game, and the Lights kept pushing into the spaces that opened when the home side dropped deeper. Oalex Anderson leveled in the 86th minute, and Las Vegas completed the turnaround with a stoppage-time winner.

Las Vegas finished with 20 shots and eight on target, while Monterey Bay managed eight shots and three on target. The home side still had more of the ball for long stretches, but possession did not buy control once the pressure turned up late and the defensive shape started to crack.

It was also the second straight 2026 meeting between the clubs and the second straight win for Las Vegas after a 1-0 result earlier in the season. In October 2025, Monterey Bay led the all-time series 4-2-1, owned a perfect 3-0-0 home record against the Lights and held a 7-3 edge in goals. The 2026 Prinx Tires USL Cup group stage ran from April 25 through July 11.
