Legends bats stay hot in offense-driven win over High Point

Lexington’s offense put the game in its hands against High Point, turning a July 24 matchup into another reminder that the Legends can beat a quality opponent with the bats as much as with pitching. The clubs are lined up to meet again Aug. 25 at 6:35 pm, which gives this stretch of the schedule added weight.

The same season stretch already included a different kind of win over High Point, when Guilfoil struck out 13 in a 7-1 Legends victory on June 20. That game belonged to the mound; this one belonged to the lineup, and the contrast says plenty about how Lexington can win in the Atlantic League when the offense starts dictating terms instead of waiting on one big swing.

Power has been part of that profile before. On June 26, 2025, Dylan Rock launched a solo home run in the first inning at Legends Field and extended his Atlantic League-record streak to homering in eight consecutive games. Nights like that are the model for what makes a lineup dangerous in this league: not a single burst of production, but a string of at-bats that keeps pressure on a staff until the margin for error disappears.

The Legends have also seen how quickly a game can turn when the other side controls the count. On Sept. 11, 2025, Colton Eastman took the loss in a 10-1 defeat to Long Island, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks in five innings with four strikeouts. That kind of line is what Lexington avoided against High Point, because the offense kept traffic on the bases and forced the Rockers to work through uncomfortable innings instead of settling in.

High Point has been one of the steadier clubs in the league, which is why an offense-driven win over the Rockers matters beyond one night in late July. Lexington already showed on June 20 that it can beat High Point with strikeouts and run prevention; the latest result showed it can also win by piling on at the plate. With another meeting on the calendar for Aug. 25, the Legends now have a chance to prove the bats are carrying into the rest of the series, not just one hot night.
