Lightning postpones FC Tulsa-Sacramento Republic FC match at ONEOK Field

Persistent lightning in the Tulsa area postponed FC Tulsa’s July 4 match against Sacramento Republic FC at ONEOK Field, turning one of the club’s biggest holiday dates into a rescheduled fixture before kickoff. FC Tulsa said the game will be made up on a later date to be announced in the coming days, and tickets bought for the original match will still be valid when the teams meet again.

The disruption hit a game that carried real weight inside the Western Conference race. In FC Tulsa’s July 2 preview, the club described Sacramento as one of last season’s top two seeds in the conference and said the meeting would launch a four-month stretch in which Tulsa would play at least once every week through the end of the regular season. Instead of a measuring-stick result, Tulsa had to absorb a postponement that altered the rhythm of its second half and the travel and recovery plans that come with a weekend of compressed scheduling.

The club’s next scheduled home match is Saturday, July 18, when FC Tulsa hosts El Paso Locomotive FC at ONEOK Field at 7:30 p.m. That match is listed as World of Soccer Night, with a World Cup scarf giveaway and $1 Beer Section Night. The July 4 date had been built as a marquee holiday presentation. FC Tulsa had planned FC Tulsa USA sunglasses for the first 1,000 fans, face painting, a halftime parade for kids dressed in red, white and blue, and postgame fireworks with player autographs. The club’s 2026 promotions calendar also marked the night as a Fourth of July match with Bill Knight Ford post-match fireworks, underscoring how much of the event had been tied to the holiday atmosphere at ONEOK Field.

The postponement also reshuffled a matchup that has recently leaned Tulsa’s way. FC Tulsa beat Sacramento Republic FC 1-0 at home on March 28, 2025, then won again 1-0 in Sacramento on June 7, 2025, after the teams had also drawn twice in 2024. Around the same stretch, Tulsa had been pushing its Route 66 Centennial Kit, tying the club’s summer branding to the Mother Road’s 100th anniversary.
