Loudoun United adds Giorgi Lomtadze, loans Eddy Davis III from Union

Loudoun United FC reshaped its attack in two moves over two days, signing Georgian midfielder Giorgi Lomtadze for the rest of the 2026 USL Championship season and then bringing in Eddy Davis III on loan from the Philadelphia Union. Loudoun moved first on Aug. 6 and again on Aug. 7.

Lomtadze is the cleaner short-term answer. Loudoun committed to him for the remainder of the campaign, which makes his role immediate and specific: help stabilize the middle of the field and give Anthony Limbrick another option in the central channels at Segra Field in Leesburg, Virginia. In late-season USL games, clubs do not sign a midfielder for the fun of it. They do it because they need more control between the lines, more composure in possession, or a player who can connect pressure to final-third chances without waiting for next year.

Davis brings a different kind of value. Loudoun described the attacker as a player with high attacking potential. He arrives on loan from Philadelphia, where the Union signed him on Feb. 11, 2025 to a three-year contract guaranteed through 2027, with options for 2028 and 2029. Philadelphia identified him as a homegrown signing, a Union II standout and an Academy graduate. Loudoun is betting that a young attacker from the MLS pathway can help now while still carrying upside beyond this season.

The club’s schedule already framed the month as one with no shortage of stakes, including the Aug. 5 DMV Derby friendly against D.C. United at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. Between that showcase and the league grind, Loudoun made its intent plain: add one midfielder who can help immediately, add one attacker who can grow into a larger role, and keep the playoff push from stalling in the summer traffic.
