Louisville City hosts Birmingham Legion in Eastern Conference matchup on CBS Sports Golazo

Kevon Lambert scored both Louisville City goals, and the second came on the night he made his 200th regular-season appearance, as Louisville City beat Birmingham Legion 2-1 at Lynn Family Stadium. The Eastern Conference game kicked off at 7:30 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Golazo and put one of the USL Championship’s standard-bearers in front of a national audience.

Louisville’s standing in the league has been built over time, and the club added to that reputation in April 2026 when it became the first team in USL Championship history to reach 200 regular-season wins. John Hackworth’s side had already beaten Birmingham 4-2 on June 14, 2025, and the rematch again underlined how often Louisville has had the upper hand in this matchup.

Louisville, anchored by Lambert’s loan spell from Real Salt Lake after his January 2025 arrival, looked every bit like the club that has set the pace in the East, while Birmingham had a chance to use a national stage to alter the way the series was being viewed. Instead, the 2-1 result gave Louisville another win over a conference rival and extended a recent trend that has repeatedly favored the home side.

USL’s March 5, 2026 national broadcast schedule put 35 games across the CBS Television Network, CBS Sports Network and ESPN2, and this matchup fit the league’s effort to showcase its most established teams. Louisville left with another result that matched its history, while Birmingham left still searching for the signature win that would change the conversation.
