LSU Eunice sets program highs in NJCAA academic honors

LSU Eunice posted its strongest classroom showing yet when the NJCAA recognized the school with program highs in both Academic Teams of the Year and All-Academic Teams after the 2025-26 academic year. The athletics department said the honor stack included five Academic Teams of the Year and 64 All-Academic Team Members, a department-wide mark that reaches every corner of LSUE athletics in Eunice, Louisiana.

For basketball, that matters because the junior-college game turns over fast. Players have a short runway to stay eligible, earn credits and move on to the next level, so a school that can stack academic honors is advertising more than wins and losses. It is showing that its recruiting and development model can carry student-athletes through the classroom as well as the box score.

The NJCAA’s Academic Team Awards recognize teams in each sport for dedication in the classroom, and the 2025-26 honorees included 1,446 teams with a 3.00 GPA or higher. NJCAA social posting on the awards also noted that two teams finished with perfect 4.00 GPAs, a reminder of how high the standard sits across the association. LSUE’s five-team total and 64 all-academic selections put the school among the departments using that standard as a core part of their identity.

The academic surge also fits a broader pattern inside LSUE athletics. LSU Eunice Baseball said on July 23 that it posted a 2025-26 team GPA of 3.52, the best in program history, giving the department another recent marker of classroom progress. That kind of repeated result suggests the academic success in July was not a one-off award cycle, but part of a sustained emphasis that runs through multiple sports.

The NJCAA’s all-academic totals underline the scale of the competition. The association announced 10,267 All-Academic student-athletes for 2022-23, then 12,245 for 2023-24, showing how crowded the field has become for programs trying to stand out in the classroom. LSU Eunice’s record year puts its basketball programs inside that pressure test with a stronger academic selling point, one that can matter as much to transfers and families as any final score.
