Mexico wins racquetball gold at Central American and Caribbean Games

Mexico finished the racquetball tournament at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games with gold, beating Costa Rica in the July 30 final in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Pan American Racquetball framed the finish as a “Rally of the Champions,” and the result gave Mexico the last word in a championship match that closed one of the Games’ marquee racquetball moments.

The International Racquetball Federation lists the 2026 CAC Games racquetball competition from July 25 through July 31, with the Gearbox Sleek designated as the official ball. That schedule put the title match at the center of the closing stretch in Santo Domingo, and Mexico’s win arrived with the tournament still inside its final day of play, underlining how late the gold-medal decision came in the regional calendar.

The title also reflected more than one result on a bracket sheet. Costa Rica had already beaten Mexico to claim mixed doubles gold at the same Games, which made the championship run a sharper test of Mexico’s overall strength. Mexico answered by reaching the final again and turning the tournament’s last championship match into a gold-medal finish, evidence that its program could absorb a setback in one event and still deliver when the pressure was highest.

That depth matters because racquetball at the Central American and Caribbean Games remains one of the sport’s most important regional stages, and the IRF’s event history places the 2026 edition alongside earlier CAC Games in 2023 and 2018. Mexico’s victory fits the broader balance of power in international racquetball, where Latin American programs continue to set the standard and where the strongest teams are measured not just by one standout performance, but by how often they can reach the final round and convert it into gold.
