Michigan State dodgeball competes at 2026 Michigan Dodgeball Cup

Michigan State dodgeball’s multimedia gallery from the 2026 Michigan Dodgeball Cup captured the Spartans in motion at Demonstration Hall, and the result a day later turned those images into a title run in progress. The event was listed as a college dodgeball tournament on Playeasy and ran Feb. 20-22 at 308 W Circle Dr. in East Lansing. Michigan State Dodgeball marked Saturday, Feb. 21 as the day to catch the Spartans in action, and the team also said admission was free for the tournament. The setup gave the Cup the feel of a full weekend showcase rather than a one-off campus scrimmage.

That mattered because the gallery leaned on what dodgeball actually looks like at the top of the college game: quick releases, bodies shifting across the court and players reacting in real time. Even without a box score, bracket result or final standings in the accessible text, the photos made clear that Michigan State was competing in a serious tournament environment, not a novelty event. The shot of Edson against Grand Valley connected the gallery directly to the opponent that would be part of MSU’s title-clinching weekend.

Michigan State’s own athletics infrastructure frames the sport that way too. Residential and Hospitality Services describes MSU Club Dodgeball as one of the fastest growing and most successful organizations on campus, noting two national championships in the last three seasons and four consecutive Michigan Dodgeball Cup championships. Recreational Sports and Fitness Services places the Spartans in the National Collegiate Dodgeball Association alongside schools such as Ohio State, Kentucky, DePaul, Nebraska, Penn State and Maryland, while naming Central Michigan, Grand Valley and Saginaw Valley as the main rivals.

That broader field helps explain why the Michigan Cup has become such a key stop for the program. The April 24 report on MSU’s coed and women’s teams adding national titles showed the dominance was not limited to one roster or one weekend. An MSU Club Dodgeball Instagram bio has described the program as a multi-time national champion, and the February post after the Cup said the Spartans had become five-time back-to-back Michigan Dodgeball Cup champions.
