MYDC A, Selangor Elite Club win Malaysian B17 dodgeball crowns

MYDC A claimed the men’s title and Selangor Elite Club took the women’s crown at the Kejohanan Terbuka Dodgeball Kebangsaan B17, a national-level finish that closed on July 26. The two winners put different clubs on top of both brackets, a result that points to strength well beyond one age-group squad.

For Malaysian dodgeball, the value of those titles goes beyond the medals. MYDC A’s men and Selangor Elite Club’s women both had to survive a national under-17 event with pressure attached to every round, and their victories suggest systems built to keep young players ready for that stage. In a youth competition, that kind of consistency matters as much as a single sharp performance, because U17 tournaments often expose whether a club can develop depth, adapt tactics and keep composure when the field tightens.

The results also sit inside a sport that has been gaining momentum in Malaysia. Malaysia finished as overall champions at the 2025 Asian Dodgeball Championship in Shah Alam, collecting three golds, two silvers and one bronze at the Kompleks Belia dan Sukan Selangor. That senior success gives added weight to what happened at B17 level, because the next wave of national talent is already being sorted through club structures and age-group competition.

The federation’s own calendar shows that the pipeline is still being built around that age band. Malaysia Dodgeball MDF listed the 2026 Kejohanan Dodgeball Kebangsaan B17 for July 25 at TMIYC Muar, with boys’ under-17 and girls’ under-17 categories on the programme from 7.00 am to 6.00 pm. With national and age-group events now running on a visible track, clubs that can keep producing winners at B17 level are positioning themselves as the most reliable feeders for Malaysia’s senior teams.
