NJCAA Division III program seeks forward help for 2026 class

A July 22 FieldLevel posting showed an NJCAA Division III program looking for a forward for the 2026 cycle, a late-summer move that captured how much roster work remains after the loudest recruiting chatter fades. FieldLevel, a college sports recruiting platform, carried the brief listing, and the school was not named in the snippet.

The ask was narrow but telling. The program wanted an F for 2026, the kind of player who can bring size, rebounding and versatility on the wing or in the frontcourt. In Division III junior college basketball, that slot often does more than fill a lineup card. A forward has to defend bigger bodies, finish around the rim and help in transition without needing the offense built around him.

The timing mattered as much as the position. A July 22 need sits in the late-summer sprint to finish a class before teams report and preseason work begins. For NJCAA Division III staffs, that means the recruiting board can stay open well beyond the traditional signing buzz as coaches chase unsigned seniors and transfer options who can solve a specific role instead of merely adding numbers.

That search sits inside a defined championship structure. The NJCAA lists the 2025-26 Division III men’s basketball championship at Herkimer College in Herkimer, N.Y., from March 13-16, 2024, with the championship game scheduled for Saturday, March 16 at 5:00 PM ET. The association also posted a 2025 NJCAA DIII Men’s Basketball Selection Show on March 5, 2025 and a 2026 selection show on March 4, 2026.

Those dates help explain why a July recruiting post still carries weight. Division III programs are building toward a national bracket while also managing limited scholarship structures, constant roster movement and the need for immediate fit. A forward who can rebound, guard and run the floor can change how a roster functions, and the July 22 listing showed one program still trying to find that piece before the class closed.
