NJCAA names Don Cameron and Associates as leadership partner
NJCAA added Don Cameron and Associates as an Official Executive Coaching and Leadership Development partner in its July 23 announcement, a move aimed squarely at the people running the sport behind the scenes. The partnership is designed to support leadership development, institutional advancement and strategic engagement opportunities for NJCAA member colleges and athletics administrators, putting the emphasis on administration rather than game-day operations.
That focus matters because NJCAA basketball sits near the center of the association’s visibility. The NJCAA says it has served since 1938 as the nation’s premier governing body for two-year collegiate athletics, with more than 500 member colleges in 42 states, and it identifies itself as the second-largest national intercollegiate athletic organization in the United States. Its X profile says it serves 60,000 student-athletes across 24 regions, while its sponsorships page says it hosts 57 national championship events each year.
For basketball programs, the practical question is whether a leadership partner can translate into more than branding. Don Cameron and Associates will be positioned as the association’s executive coaching and leadership development arm, which suggests work that could touch athletic directors, coaches and other administrators as they navigate recruiting, roster management and the annual grind of postseason planning. In a sport where junior-college visibility is driven by winter schedules, national rankings, brackets and transfer movement, the off-court infrastructure can shape how well programs are presented and supported.

The partnership also arrived during a busy summer for the national office. NJCAA announced six promotions and two new employees on July 9, added a student-athlete health accreditation process with the U.S. Council for Athletes’ Health on May 21, and named Ardor IT Solutions as a Strategic Innovation and Solutions Partner on July 1 to support website, statistics and streaming services. Taken together, those moves show an association building out staffing, health standards and digital presentation at the same time it is adding a leadership-focused outside partner.
For member colleges, the test will be whether the new relationship produces concrete help for administrators who carry the sport’s day-to-day burden. NJCAA basketball depends on that support as much as on what happens in the gym, and the association’s latest partnership points to another attempt to strengthen the machinery around the games that matter most.
