Noble Wood edges OnlyUmps 14-13 to stay unbeaten in Eastlake
Noble Wood beat OnlyUmps 14-13 at Rogers PG in Seattle on Tuesday, June 23, and stayed perfect at 4-0-0. Marie M earned player of the game honors for “Gold glove defense, lots of kicks.”
The summer session began Tuesday, June 2, uses a co-ed 10s format with 6 men and 4 women, and is open to players age 21 and up. Teams play one game per week on Tuesdays or Thursdays, with start times set for 6:15 p.m., 7:15 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. The division is mixed, with both softcore and midcore teams sharing the schedule at Rogers PG.
Noble Wood entered the matchup with a pair of convincing early wins and kept that pace intact by outlasting OnlyUmps. On June 2, Noble Wood beat Denny Way Dingers 17-7, then followed that with a 10-8 win over Summer Professionals on June 9. The 14-13 escape over OnlyUmps was a different kind of test, one decided by a single run instead of a runaway margin.

OnlyUmps also came in with scoring punch. It opened the season June 2 by beating kicko mode 24-4, then returned on June 9 to top The Ballbarians 22-17. That made Tuesday’s meeting a clash of two teams that had already shown they could put runs on the board, and the 27 combined runs reflected that pace.
