Orange County SC sells Pedro Guimaraes to Eintracht Frankfurt

Orange County SC completed the transfer of Pedro Guimaraes to Eintracht Frankfurt and turned a 17-year-old center back into the largest player sale in club history. The Bundesliga club locked him in through June 30, 2030, after the move had been agreed on February 3 and set to close once Germany’s transfer window reopened and Guimaraes turned 18.

For Orange County, the sale says as much about the club as it does about the player. Guimaraes arrived from the LAFC Academy through Orange County’s Next Wave program on August 2, 2024, and the club made clear from the start that he had chosen its #NextWave and Pathway to Europe route as the first step in his professional career. That pitch now has a real outcome: a teenager developed in Irvine, then moved into a Bundesliga contract in Frankfurt.

Guimaraes rewarded that trust quickly. Orange County said he was selected to the United States U-17 Men’s National Team squad for the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup, which opened in Qatar on November 3, 2025. USL Championship coverage also put him among the league’s standout young defenders after a 2025 season that included four goals and one assist in 1,567 minutes across USL Championship and USL Cup play.

The numbers show why the market moved so fast. Orange County’s roster page credited Guimaraes with 25 appearances across all competitions in 2025, four goals and 1,570 minutes. The club later said he played 17 USL Championship matches that year, scoring twice, adding one assist and completing 86.8% of his passes in league play. In 2026, before the transfer was finalized, he added 15 appearances across all competitions, scored once and supplied two assists. Across his Orange County career, he finished with 40 professional appearances and five goals, a serious attacking return for a young defender.

The sale also fits a bigger Orange County pattern. Local reporting said Guimaraes became the eighth OCSC player to move to Europe, which is a meaningful number for a USL Championship club that wants to be judged not just on weekend results, but on whether it can identify, develop and export talent. Orange County now has a club-record fee on the books and another proof point that its pathway can produce players good enough for one of Europe’s better-known clubs.
