Penn State to host Keystone State Games dodgeball stop in 2026

Penn State’s IM Building was the site of the Keystone State Games of America’s dodgeball stop on Aug. 1, and the placement mattered as much as the bracket itself. The event was listed as Comp Mixed with 7-inch foam, a setup that pushes dodgeball into the kind of mixed-field competition that can draw co-ed rec players and crossover athletes into the same gym.

The Dodgeball Hub listing gave teams a clear start point: doors for players were set to open at 9:00 a.m. at IM Building, 101 Curtin Road, University Park, Pennsylvania 16802. The same listing also showed the venue as 679 Curtin Road, University Park, Pennsylvania 16802, a reminder that this was not a neighborhood pickup night but a campus event where finding the right door, lot and warmup space mattered before the first toss.

That campus setting is part of the story. The listing warned that roughly 10,000 athletes were expected on Penn State’s campus during the week and weekend, turning arrival times and parking into part of the competition-day strategy. Penn State said its 2026 State Games of America hosting window ran from July 24 through Aug. 2 and would welcome more than 8,000 amateur athletes and supporters, while the National Congress of State Games placed the 2026 festival in State College from July 28 through Aug. 2. Keystone State Games said registration was open for the State Games of America in State College, making the dodgeball stop one piece of a much larger amateur-sports weekend.

The venue fit the moment. Penn State Student Affairs describes the IM Building as part of Campus Recreation facilities, and IMLeagues places Penn State dodgeball in the Intramural Building at University Park. A 2017 project profile put the building’s cost at $84.3 million, with 257,191 square feet of new construction, 117,039 square feet of renovation and occupancy in August 2017. That kind of footprint, along with campus recreation features such as walking tracks, gym equipment, fitness spaces and a rock climbing wall, gives mixed foam dodgeball a formal stage instead of a temporary setup.
