Pittsburgh-Lousiville CBS match draws second-highest USL Championship audience
Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC's 3-1 win over Louisville City FC on CBS drew the second-highest TV audience in USL Championship history. USL highlighted the milestone on July 23, and the broadcast carried a game that turned into a record night for Trevor Amann at F.N.B. Stadium in Pittsburgh.
The matchup had the right ingredients for national television before the ball was even kicked. USL's July 14 viewing guide put Riverhounds-LouCity on the CBS Television Network on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET at F.N.B. Stadium, and the league's July 16 preview framed it as the defending USL Championship titleholders against the two-time Players' Shield winners. That is the sort of pairing that can pull casual viewers in: two established clubs, a recognizable national window, and a game that looked like a real test, not a filler spot on the schedule.

Amann made sure the broadcast had a finish. He scored three goals in 3 minutes, 27 seconds early in the second half, a burst USL said set a USL Championship record. Pittsburgh turned that run into a 3-1 victory, with the Riverhounds handling one of the league's most decorated clubs on a stage that mattered far beyond the box score.

The audience figure fits into a broader run of national-TV gains for the league. USL's previous regular-season benchmark came on April 10, 2025, when the USL on CBS premiere between San Antonio FC and Phoenix Rising FC drew 453,000 viewers on the CBS Television Network and was labeled the most-watched regular-season game in USL Championship history. The next day, the league said its television viewership trendline was rising as broader national and local network availability brought more people to the product. Riverhounds-LouCity backed that up with a higher-profile matchup and another clear sign that USL's biggest audience gains come when it puts contender against contender on a major network.
