Plans to double Guisborough padel hub with unit conversion

Plans were underway to potentially double the Vida Del Padel hub in Guisborough through an industrial-unit conversion, with the current site already showing the strain of demand. The club at 5 South Buck Way, Cleveland Gate Business Park, TS14 7DL listed two indoor double panoramic courts, and both showed no slots available on Monday, Aug. 3.

That booking squeeze matters because the Guisborough operation is already being asked to do more than just host casual hits. The club’s league plans pointed to a wait-and-see queue of teams, with organisers saying that if the waiting list reached four additional teams, they would open four more spots and expand the event. In practice, doubling the hub would mean more court time for league fixtures, less pressure on prime evening bookings and a better chance of keeping social play and match nights moving without one crowding out the other.

More floor space would also change the coaching equation. An indoor centre with only two courts can fill up quickly once coaching blocks, beginner sessions and league play are layered onto the same timetable. Extra courts would create room for more coaching hours, more progression slots for improvers and a clearer pathway for juniors who need regular repeat sessions rather than the odd off-peak opening.

The Guisborough proposal also fits a wider North East pattern: padel is spreading fastest where empty industrial stock can be turned into playable space. In Gosforth, Pure Padel secured approval for a 40,000 sq ft warehouse development with 10 indoor courts, while Washington has also seen plans for an indoor padel centre in a vacant industrial unit. Guisborough’s expansion would follow the same practical model, using an existing building rather than waiting for a city-centre showcase site.

That approach is becoming the sport’s most credible growth route outside the biggest urban centres. When a small hub is already full, league organisers are managing waiting lists and the booking page shows every court taken, doubling the footprint is no longer a luxury. It is the next step in keeping court supply aligned with the North East’s pace of demand.
