Polk State College set a school record with 24 NJCAA All-Academic selections, topping the previous mark of 21 student-athletes. For NJCAA basketball, the number matters because it points to a program culture built around eligibility, retention and the academic discipline that keeps a roster usable from one semester to the next.

The NJCAA’s academic awards are not casual honors. Student-athletes earn them by posting an overall GPA of 3.60 or higher, which makes Polk State’s total more than a nice number for the department website. It means the college is getting real production in the classroom from players who still have to balance travel, practice, lift sessions and game prep. The college said 39 student-athletes earned FCSAA All-Academic honors on June 4, 2025, and later said two teams earned NJCAA Academic Team of the Year status for 2023-24.
