Pro Padel League builds luxury image with Frédérique Constant deal
Frédérique Constant has become the Pro Padel League’s official timepiece partner, and the deal includes a special limited-edition PPL-branded watch. The Swiss watchmaker’s first professional sports partnership gives the league a high-end sponsor as it tries to turn padel into a repeatable North American property rather than a one-off lifestyle attraction.
The partnership fits a broader expansion plan that has moved fast since 2025. In May that year, PPL unveiled a season that stretched across North America and into Europe, with the opening event set for Wayfair Arena in Miami and stops in places including San Sebastián and Guadalajara. The league said it had 10 teams in the United States, Canada and Mexico, an important scale marker for a sport still building its public footprint in this market.
PPL tightened that model again in January 2026, announcing a five-event 2026 schedule across North America and saying the City’s Cup Finals would be held in Miami for the first time. The league’s team list now includes DC Matrix, Florida Goats, Houston Volts, Las Vegas Smash, Los Angeles Beat, Mexico Waves, Miami Padel Club and New York Atlantics, a lineup that shows how aggressively it is trying to plant flags in major media and leisure markets.
The business backing followed in March 2026, when PPL closed a $15 million Series A round led by Charlotte Hornets co-chairman and governor Gabe Plotkin. Taken together, the sponsor deal, the tighter event calendar and the new capital show a league betting that premium branding can do more than decorate the product: it has to help sell tickets, attract stronger sponsorships and keep fans coming back for the next event.
