Racquetball Canada partners with Canadian Sport Centre Manitoba for athlete support

Racquetball Canada moved to tighten its high-performance setup on July 30 in Winnipeg, announcing a new partnership with Canadian Sport Centre Manitoba to provide performance services for Canadian racquetball athletes. The federation framed the deal as a way to strengthen the support system around its athletes, not just its tournament results.

The fit is obvious in Manitoba, where racquetball has long been a key province for the sport and where high-performance support can travel farther than one weekend result. Racquetball Canada’s public site shows a 2026 championships page and other high-performance content, a sign the federation is building around a broader competitive calendar rather than treating elite play as a series of isolated events. Kathy Brook, listed on the federation’s site as executive director, is the administrator most likely to be central as the partnership gets implemented.

What CSCM adds is structure. The announcement points to a more formal connection between Racquetball Canada and one of Manitoba’s leading high-performance sport organizations, with the goal of giving athletes more consistent access to structured athlete development, high-performance coordination and sport-science-driven services. That matters in racquetball, where agility, endurance, recovery and match-specific preparation can decide whether an athlete lasts through a tight draw or fades after a heavy stretch of games.

For national-team athletes, the practical change is likely to be continuity. Instead of building pieces of support in different places, the federation is putting one more layer in place between daily training and the demands of international competition. That kind of pipeline is how smaller federations narrow the gap with better-resourced programs: fewer gaps between provincial training, national-team expectations and the services athletes need when the margins get thinner.

The partnership also reinforces Manitoba’s role as a hub in Canadian racquetball. By tying Racquetball Canada more closely to CSCM, the federation is signaling that the province will help shape the next wave of elite athletes, not just host them. Over the next 12 months, the real test will be whether that setup translates into more organized preparation for the 2026 championship cycle and a sturdier path from development ranks to senior national-team play.
