Red Wings prospect Michal Pradel commits to Colorado College

Michal Pradel committed to Colorado College after two seasons with the Tri-City Storm, a move marked as a confirmed college commitment on Jan. 14 and announced by Tri-City the next day. The 6-foot-4, 203-pound goaltender from Dolny Kubin, Slovakia, reached the NCAA step after turning himself into one of the USHL’s more closely watched netminders.

Detroit had already put its stamp on Pradel at the 2025 NHL Entry Draft in Los Angeles, taking him in the third round, 75th overall. The Red Wings made him their lone goaltender selected on the second day of that draft, and the organization’s interest followed him through a season in which he took on a bigger role in Tri-City.

Pradel’s most recent USHL season ended with a 16-16-4 record, a 2.75 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage in 38 games. HockeyDB lists his 2024-25 Tri-City line at 14 games played, showing the progression from one season to the next as he settled into more work for the Storm.

That climb was recognized inside the league before the move to Colorado Springs. Tri-City named Pradel a finalist for the USHL Goaltender of the Year Award on April 16, then put him on the All-USHL Third Team on April 21 alongside teammate Laylin. For Colorado College, the commitment added a draft-eligible, NHL-selected goalie who has already handled a heavy junior workload and drawn league-wide notice.

Pradel’s path fits the route many top goaltending prospects now take through the USHL before moving to college hockey. Tri-City gave him two seasons of high-end junior reps, Detroit used a third-round pick on him, and Colorado College became the next stop in a development track that has already put him on the Red Wings’ radar.
