Seattle Tempest headline all-star speculation ahead of PUL-WUL clash

Seattle beat San Diego Super Bloom 13-8 on June 19 in wind and heat, and that third WUL title put Jamie Kauffman and Cheryl Hsu at the front of the all-star conversation as the Premier Ultimate League and Western Ultimate League head toward their Aug. 28 rematch at Breese Stevens Field in Madison, Wisconsin. The official roster reveals are due next week.

The second annual PUL-WUL All-Star Game is set for Friday, Aug. 28, at 4:00 p.m. CT during UFA Championship Weekend, with a free simulcast on YouTube from the Ultimate Frisbee Association, the WUL and the PUL. Fans had until July 10 at 11:59 p.m. ET to vote for the 2026 PUL All-Stars, and tickets are being sold through the UFA with an optional suggested $20 add-on to support future events.

The selection pressure starts in Seattle, where Kauffman was named WUL MVP and Hsu took Offensive Player of the Year honors. Meg Manning was a Defensive Player of the Year finalist, Gemma Munck a Breakout Player of the Year finalist, and Jess Spaulding one of the weekend’s most efficient performers. Ultiworld box-score analysis counted Seattle players in seven of the 11 best single-game performances of Championship Weekend.

Kauffman and Hsu are near-automatic selections, and Seattle’s title run also gives the Tempest a deeper case than a one-star story, with Manning and Munck both in award territory.

The first PUL-WUL crossover, played at Breese Stevens Field on Aug. 23, 2025, drew more than 1,500 fans, the largest crowd ever for a professional women’s ultimate game.
